A WTG to Chicago for manning up and honoring some of our gay military veterans. There are approximately 65,000 gays in the military and about 2 people a day are discharged for being gay. Kudos to Chicago for honoring these American heroes and to all of the other LBGT service men and women out there. We salute you and thank you for your service. As the video points out, Obama can repeal the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy with the stroke of his pen.
In the battle to stay afloat and not have major layoffs, Schiff Hardin is turning over a new leaf. They are making some extreme cost cuts in an effort to keep all of their associates and staff. Associates, like partners and Of Counsel, will be paying their own full insurance costs. The silver lining, if they do get laid off, their COBRA payments will be cheaper than what they’ve been paying at work! In addition to insurance (which should save the firm a BUNDLE) they are pushing back start dates, shortening the summer program, and offering volunteer early retirement. I admire their honesty with their staff and their efforts to find more creative ways to avoid layoffs and the like. Let’s see if it works. They are a great firm and I’d hate to see any of them go.
I had no idea there was such a thing as a cat circus…I have one cat and I can’t get her to do shit other than nap, eat, and bother me when I sleep. She’s a dream. I can’t imagine trying to train and TRAVEL with cats. On the other hand…the pictures are completely amazing.
I have not yet seen Watchmen. What can I say? I had a busy weekend of gay bar hoping and facing stuffing in Chicago. But don’t worry-I’m unemployed! I can go see it…well, now! I have read some of the reviews and can’t say that I’m shocked. The director from “300”!!! COME ON. But I digress. This little cartoon slide show of what other directors would have done with the movie is at least chuckle worthy. Enjoy.
